TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee building, more than a century old, is now in the history books.
The Wahnish Cigar Factory and Tobacco Warehouse is now on the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places.
Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner made the announcement Wednesday.
The old warehouse on Saint Francis Street was the largest cigar factory operating in Tallahassee when it was built in 1907.
According to the National Register, it is also one of the very few surviving tobacco buildings in the region constructed during the shade tobacco boom.
