TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee is continuing to put families first by becoming a more baby-friendly city.

New features around town are geared toward prioritizing mothers and their little ones.

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is officially the first in the Big Bend to receive the "baby-friendly hospital" designation.

This accreditation recognizes the hospital for optimal mother and baby bonding as well as safe feeding.

"it's really important to me to live in a breast feeding friendly evniornment because I know that being a mom and having a two year old, wer're going to be out and about and doing things around town, so its going to be important to me to live in a breast feeding supportive environment," said one mother, Montanna Allgood.

Right down the road, at the Tallahassee International Airport, you'll find a brestfeeding pod to make mothers more comfortable.

WTXL spoke to the airport two months ago when they installed it.

Airport officials are installing another pod in the airport in hopes to continue to see Tallahassee grow to become more baby-friendly.
