TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee city commission honored four individuals and one business with this year's "Keys to the City" Wednesday.

Mayor Andrew Gillum handed out the keys to David Ross, two-time World Series champion and recent runner-up on the ABC show "Dancing with the Stars"; Shacafrica "Chef Shac" Simmons, recent winner on the Food Network show "Chopped"; Dr. Mary Coburn, who served in leadership roles at Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University for several years; and Mike Franck, a FAMU-FSU College of Engineering graduate who was killed while pushing others away from danger during a drive-by shooting in Tampa.

International company Danfoss Turbocor was also honored as the first business to ever receive a key to the city.

Ross, a Tallahassee native and Florida High graduate, said his hometown has a very special place in his heart.

"I just really appreciate it. Tallahassee is home," he said. "These people out here helped raised me, and I'm so thankful for the way they treat me and my family. The school system here still raising my kids -- so, it's a pretty special day."
