TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee is one of 11 cities in the country to be awarded a grant to help with airport improvements from the federal government.
The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Tallahassee $750,000 as part of the 'Small Community Air Service Development Program'.
The program is designed to help address challenges smaller communities and their airports face such as high airfare, lack of competition, and insufficient service.
Since the program began in 2002, nearly 400 communities have benefited from the funding.
