TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee has announced its operating schedule for the Christmas holiday.
Administrative offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday on Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25.
Following are schedule changes for the week of December 23 - 29 for solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits, StarMetro, the Animal Service Center and City-run community centers.
Solid Waste
During the holiday week, most residential customers will receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service. This includes garbage / recycling and yard waste / bulky pickup, which will impact BLUE week customers:
- Monday customers | No change
- Tuesday customers | Wednesday, Dec. 26
- Wednesday customers | Thursday, Dec. 27
- Thursday customers | Friday, Dec. 28
- Friday customers | Saturday, Dec. 29
After the holiday season, recycle your live-cut Christmas tree. The easiest way is to place it at the curb for collection as yard waste. Remove all decorations first! Customers are reminded to separate yard waste piles from any bulky items set out for pickup. Collected trees are ground into mulch and beneficially reused.
There will also be community drop off sites at Tom Brown Park (443 Easterwood Drive), Myers Park (913 Myers Park Drive), San Luis Park (131 San Luis Road), Jack McLean Park (700 Paul Russell Road) and the Four Points by Sheraton (316 W. Tennessee Street) where you can take your Christmas tree to be recycled into mulch for use in City parks.
Garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled to the curb for pickup by 6:30 a.m. on collection day, with both containers returned to the home no later than the day after collection. For more information, visit Talgov.com/YOU or call 891-4968.
