"Take Me Home" annual adoption event

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)- Dozens of furry friends got new homes Saturday during the 3rd annual "Take Me Home" adoption event at the North Florida Fairgrounds.

Hosted by local pet rescue groups,  the event found matches for shelter animals to place them in safe, loving homes. Pet-friendly businesses like Tallahassee Big Dog rescue were also there providing pet information and promotional items for the animals.

The organizer of the event told ABC 27 the event's success is primarily thanks to caring citizens in the Big Bend. Grayce Berman said, "There's a lot of caring people in Leon county and surrounding counties that care about the dogs and cats that end up in shelters, because they didn't have a good home to begin with."

Out of more than 30 cats and dogs at the event, more than half of them were placed in new, safe, and loving homes. Local rescue groups also accepted donations of blankets, towels, and crates for animals still in the shelters.
