TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Starting Saturday, an exciting new service is coming to Tallahassee.

With the Walk Tallahassee Tour, you can walk through historic downtown districts, and learn about history at your own pace using a virtual format.

You only need to download the free app Florida Stories and you will have all the information you need on the 11 sites included in the tour.

A combination of facts, photos and narration will provide background information, specific to each historic site.

The tours are on-demand, any time, and you set the pace.

"We wanted it to be a tour that people could go on and then go inside," said Tiffany Baker, the director of the Florida Historic Capitol Museum. "So you can spend almost an entire day checking out the sites from the outside via the app and then going inside and meeting people."

The Florida Humanities Council developed the app to highlight historic districts around the state.

There will be a launch party Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum. It's free and open to the community.

You can download Florida Stories on Android or on Apple iOS.
