Taco Bell to open 300 stores without drive-through by 2022, will serve booze

Posted

HOUSTON (RNN) - Taco Bell will open more than 300 new locations with revamped layouts across the country by 2022.

According to Food & Wine, the new locations will be "cantina style," meaning they won't have a drive-through and will serve alcohol.

On the menu will be beer, sangria and Twisted Freezes - slushies with tequila, rum or vodka.

The new stores will open mostly in urban areas, according to KHOU. They will feature local artwork and open kitchens, so you can watch your food being cooked.

This is just the latest in Taco Bell's attempt to revolutionize their brand.

Earlier this year, the chain partnered with Lyft, a taxi-like service. A feature added to the Lyft app, called "Taco Mode," takes riders to nearby Taco Bell restaurants en route to their destination.

Taco Bell currently operates more than 7,000 restaurants worldwide and 5,604 in the U.S.
