WAKULLA COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - A man accused of killing his girlfriend in Crawfordville plead guilty to second degree murder on Wednesday.
The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office announced on their Facebook page that Charles Brow, 54, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for second degree murder and possession of a gun by a felon.
Deputies said his guilty plea came after the conclusion of a statewide investigation involving the Wakulla and Santa Rosa Sheriff's offices and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
On October 25, 2015, deputies in Santa Rosa said they arrested Brow on charges unrelated to a homicide and authorities they said he told the officer transporting him that he had murdered his girlfriend in Wakulla.
The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office said they were able to determine that 41-year-old Laura Wilkins was dating Brow and that she lived at a home on Cajer Posey Road.
When deputies went to her home to check on her, they found her dead. They said she had been beaten and shot.
Deputies said that Wednesday in court, a judge accepted Brow’s plea of 30 years of prison with a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison.
