TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A suspect in the murder of Florida State Law professor Dan Markel has plead guilty to second degree murder.

Luis Rivera plead guilty to second degree murder while in court Tuesday, and was sentenced to 19 years in state prison for his role in the professor's death.

Rivera also agreed to testify in future hearings and has waived his right to trial and to appeal. He has to pay $2,600 in court hearings.

The state said that the gun used to kill Markel has not been recovered yet. Prosecutors also said there isn't enouch evidence at the moment to charge anyone in the Adelson family.

The 19 year sentence is concurrent with his ongoing federal sentence of 12 years, meaning Rivera will only serve seven more years as a result of the new sentencing.

Sigfredo Garcia is due in court Friday morning for a bond hearing. There has been no indication that he will enter a plea deal like Rivera.
