NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Police say the man wanted in the killings of a woman and her daughter has been arrested in Pensacola, Florida.
New Orleans Police Department spokesman Tyler Gamble says 25-year-old Dwayne Martin was arrested Thursday by U.S. Marshals and Santa Rosa County Florida sheriff's deputies. Police are working to extradite Martin to New Orleans.
Martin is suspected in a triple shooting Tuesday that left 25-year-old Walesha Williams and her 8-year-old daughter, Paris, dead. Authorities say Martin and Williams had been in a romantic relationship.
The woman was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene; her daughter had a gunshot wound to the head and died later at a hospital.
Another woman, who also was shot multiple times, is in stable condition at an area hospital.
