THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL)--The YMCA in Thomasville is seeing a lot of children use their facilities this summer, and law enforcement officers say it's no doubt it's keeping kids out of trouble, making their jobs a little easier.

Kids enjoy a variety of activities such as basketball, volleyball, and even a dip in the pool when they're ready to cool off.

Now that students are out of school, deputies say places like the YMCA are a safe and a great way to keep kids active while their parents are away at work.

"We have a variety of camps and affordable. If there is someone who is not able to then we'd be happy to find financial assistance to provide those who might need some assistance with these camps," said Greer Cox, the YMCA Butler-Mason Branch Director.

"It's a supervised environment," said Capt. Steve Jones with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office. "Any time you add supervision, you add another layer of safety and protection for the kids."
