TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The North Florida - South Georgia Veterans's Health System hosted a suicide prevention awareness event Friday morning.
The event had several tables with resources for veterans.
Resources included #BeThere campaign materials, gun safety information and gun locks, and Veterans Crisis Line (VCL) materials.
"This is a critical part if we can be there at that moment when somebody whose contemplating suicide needs our help, this is the moment and intervention at that moment and time shows to be very helpful," said Michael Silvers, Chief Medical Officer for Tallahassee Outpatient Center.
The event was open to the public.
