LEON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Middle school students in Leon County were treated to a special performance from a band who started their roots in North Carolina.
Mipso is a bluegrass Americana band out of Chapel Hill North Carolina.
They're best known for infusing bluegrass musical styles into pop melodies.
On Monday, they gave a special performance for students at Raa Middle School in Leon County.
Band Director Barbie Townsend said, making an auditorium stop can have an important impact on local teenagers.
"The parents really enjoy this, this is one of the ways their students kind of get to break off and maybe copy and try some different things with their friends," Townsend elaborated, "We like to give them some time before school and after school if they want to practice or if they want to try different things and get a chance to try some of those things."
