TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A Leon High School student arrested last week for bringing a gun to school had previously been investigated for the same crime, officials said.

A 14-year-old student was arrested by Leon County Sheriffs on February 1 for having a firearm in his backpack at school. According to documents from the Sheriff's office, the same student had brought a gun to Griffin Middle School a little more than a year prior.

The incident occurred on November 4, 2014, when students said they saw the suspect with what appeared to be a pellet gun, deputies said. Students reported this two days later to the school's resource deputy.

After talking to other students and searching the suspect and his locker, deputies didn't find any weapons, the report said.

After deputies confronted the student with the consequences if he was lying, the student admitted that he brought the pellet gun to school and had since gotten rid of it.

The student was given a ten day suspension and recommended for expulsion.
