EAGLE LAKE, Fla. (AP) — Deputies say a 15-year-old student has died after being stuck by a vehicle near Lakeland.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened Wednesday morning along U.S 17 in Eagle Lake.
Traffic in the area is very congested due to the southbound lanes being shutdown at Winter Lake Road.
Deputies say the driver of the vehicle that hit the student stopped and is cooperating with authorities. The teen's parents have been notified and were at the scene early Wednesday.
