FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Fort Lauderdale police say a middle schooler stole his teacher's keys and took the car for a joyride.
According to a police report, the 13-year-old stole the keys earlier this month and then a few days later took the car for a spin, abandoning it a few hundred feet from the school.
The police report says five middle schoolers got into a fight the next day, allegedly punching and stabbing a classmate they thought snitched. The Associated Press is not identifying any students involved because they are minors.
The victim received minor injuries.
Police say one student is facing a grand theft motor vehicle charge and the other students are facing felony charges of aggravated battery.
The Sun Sentinel (http://tinyurl.com/z9okjg3) reports the teacher whose car was taken and the principal of William Dandy Middle declined comment.
