A fight broke out in one of the hallways and 16-year-old Herbert Clark tried to pull a loaded gun out of his pocket, said deputies.
The gun, a loaded .357 Magnum Revolver, fell to the ground, according to deputies. That is when another student picked up the gun and gave it to the assistant principal, said the Leon County Sheriff's Department in a news release.
Clark was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, where he was charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds.
Deputies said that faculty members were able to identify five other student who were involved in the fight. They were also charged with public affray.
