Nearly two months after his murder, students and faculty are gathering next week for a memorial for Florida State law professor Dan Markel.
The memorial is taking place now that students are back at school and will be held next Tuesday, September 16 in Roberts Hall. Markel's family will be in attendance.
On July 18th, Markel was gunned down outside of his Betton Hills home. His neighbor found him unresponsive in his car after hearing the gun shot. The 911 call made by Markel's neighbor was mistakenly registered as a lower priority, causing the ambulance to take nearly 20 minutes to arrive on scene. Markel was transported to an area hospital and later died of his injuries.
Police are still searching for his killer and have made no arrests. If you have any information about his killing, you can call the tip line at (850)891-4462.
