DELAND, Fla. (AP) — Beer on campus? That's a possibility at Stetson University where the school's leaders are considering turning a coffee shop into a pub-like setting where beer and wine would be served some evenings.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/18lgVVF ) reports the idea appeals to school officials because of the safety issue. It would offer a place on campus where students could drink with some supervision.
Members of the Student Government Association first made the suggestion to Christopher Kandus-Fisher, the school's vice president of student affairs. He encouraged them to pursue the idea.
The pub would feature live music and bar food. Campus public safety officers would stand by the doors and check IDs. Students would be limited in how much they drink.
Stetson University is in DeLand.
