STEINHATCHEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A husband and wife are behind bars, in Taylor County, accused of attempted murder.

George William "Billy" Painter IV, 32, and his wife Pamela Ann Painter, 29, were arrested on one count each of attempted felony murder, armed robbery, and theft of a controlled substance.

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in the investigation and arrests.

The investigation shows that around 4:50 a.m. on March 1, 2015, Billy Painter attacked 66 year-old Paul Pridgeon at his home by hitting him on the head with a tire iron numerous times. During that time, investigators say Pamela Painter stole between 2 to 3 grams of the drug methamphetamine from Pridgeon.

Billy Painter was already in the Taylor County Jail on an unrelated charge when he was served with an arrest warrant on the new charges.

Pamela Painter was arrested at her home, 913 3rd Street West, around noon Wednesday and was booked into the Taylor County Jail.
