TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)- The man accused of murdering a 24-year-old Tallahassee woman and dumping her body in the woods near his apartment could face the death penalty.
According to court documents, a notice of intent to seek the death penalty was filed on Wednesday.
Police say Leon Woodberry got into a fight with Shannan Gordon in his Savannah Crossing apartment on April 16 and stabbed her to death.
Gordon's body was discovered the next morning in nearby woods. Investigators say a blood trail led them to Woodberry's apartment.
Woodberry had only been out of prison for about half a year when he was arrested. He previously served time for sexual battery and burglary.
