TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Coming up this weekend in Woodville, a reenactment will take place at the Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park.

The site is the home of the second largest civil war battle in Florida.

During the final weeks of the Civil War, a Union flotilla landed at Apalachee Bay to capture Fort Ward.

Confederate soldiers from Tallahassee met union forces at Natural Bridge, and defended the area against three attacks, meaning Tallahassee was the only Confederate capitol east of the Mississippi not captured by the union.

The naval landing will be re-created on Friday around 1 p.m.

There will be re-enactments on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., and the full battle will be reenacted on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
