SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - A local state of emergency has been declared in Sarasota County ahead of Hurricane Irma.
The Emergency Operations Center continues to monitor the storm and consult with local and state partners.
Sarasota County Commission Chairman Paul Caragiulo is also reminding citizens to "stay calm, stay alert and be prepared" as Hurricane Irma approaches.
