TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)– The Department of Business and Professional Regulation is warning to you about individuals posing as DBPR employees, allegedly targeting licensed businesses and professionals. The agency says the callers are asking victims for personal information.
The agency has confirmed that the phone calls are in no way connected with the department or its regulatory authority.
The agency says if you receive a call from someone claiming to be a DBPR employee who is asking for personal information, you should not provide any personal or financial information. A consumer safety tip is to ask the caller to return the phone call to verify their authority and call the DBPR Customer Contact Center at (850) 487-1395.
If the person calling claims to be a telemarketer, you can report the call to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services at 1-800-HELP-FLA (1-800-435-7352) or at www.freshfromflorida.com.
