TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Springtime Tallahassee organizers receive tens of thousands of dollars to help extend the festivities for another day.

$50,000 of public funds will now go towards adding a music festival on the Friday night ahead of Saturday's big celebration in March.

$25,000 of that money will come from the Community Redevelopment Agency. The rest is from the Leon County Tourism Development Council.

The event usually brings thousands of visitors to the Capital City.

Tim Jansen, Executive Board President for Springtime Tallahassee, says the additional money was handed out in hopes of drawing even more people.

"We normally don't get money from the city, but this year we needed a little push," said Jansen. "We needed a little help, because we want to show, if we're going to do this adventure, we wanted to get enough support that we could do it right. And we think next year we won't need that extra $25,000, sponsors will jump in."

The music festival will be held on March 27, 2015 and organizers say the country group The Eli Young Band will be the main act.
