TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) Florida highways could see a speed limit increase, under a bill now headed to Governor Rick Scott.
The Florida House voted 58-56 on Wednesday to pass the bill, despite concerns from some lawmakers who said it could lead to more deadly accidents.
The measure would allow the Florida Department of Transportation to raise the speed limit on Florida interstates 70 to 75 miles per hour.
It would also allow for an increase from 65 to 70 miles per hour on four lane highways. The bill would allow for an increase to 75 miles per hour on other roads. The bill would not automatically raise speed limits.
