VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A big weekend is planned in Valdosta.
The Special Olympics will be hosted at "Freedom Park" all weekend long.
Opening ceremonies kicked off at 10 a.m. on Thursday followed by track and field, softball, and various developmental sports.
Students ranging from ages 8 to 21 participated.
The event also featured a special "Olympic Town", where children can play when they are not competing.
Five area counties are competing in the "Spring games" this year.
