CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — Italy's first spacewalker is reporting that the back of his head is drenched as he works outside the International Space Station.
NASA is determining whether there's any danger to the situation.
Barely an hour into Tuesday's spacewalk, astronaut Luca Parmitano told Mission Control he felt a lot of water on the back of his head. Parmitano says it's probably sweat because of all his exertion. But he was repeatedly assured it was not sweat. His spacewalking partner, American Christopher Cassidy, said it might be water from his drink bag. Cassidy said it looks like a half-liter of water leaked out.
It's unclear whether the spacewalk can continue as plan. It's supposed to last six hours. It's their second spacewalk in eight days.
The astronauts were performing cable work when the problem arose.
