TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--
On Monday, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Vice President Joe Biden spoke on the importance of training programs for college students and announced $450 million in grants for community colleges.
One of the colleges receiving a cut of the grant will be Southwest Georgia Technical College in Thomasville.
The college will get a $2.3 million of federal money. The school will be awarded the money in order to expand job training. The college plans to expand its Healthcare Careers Work! program through the grant to meet the regional demand for more healthcare professionals. Southwest Georgia Tech is the only individual college to receive the grant in Georgia.
