TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Some residents of Tallahassee's Southside plan to protest the city's decision to move the Public Safety Headquarters.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Wednesday morning from City Hall.

Many factors are angering those on the Southside, but it all boils down to a lack of communication between the community and city officials.

Earlier this year, the city began plans to put a brand new public safety complex where the Town South Plaza currently stands.

That plaza includes a pharmacy, grocery store, and clothing store to name a few - the only option for many in the area who can't go far.

Regina Joseph with the Tallahassee Community Action Committee says that the $60 million dollar project is coming out of the taxpayers' pockets, and therefore they deserve the opportunity to have some input.

Regina Joseph, a protest organizer, said "The City Commission acted as if it was a done deal. That's what we heard multiple times from members of the City Commission that said that this police station is already a done deal and we're just going to go ahead and build it. But when I have actually spoken to members of the community a lot of them are actually against what's happening because they're not actually being told by people in our government what's actually going on."

The protest is Wednesday at City Hall. It starts at 4 p.m. and goes until 7 p.m.
