Southern Georgia Regional Commission reports an increase in car crashes in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Car crashes are on the rise in Valdosta and the Southern Georgia Regional Commission has pin pointed the top hot-spots in the area. 

SGRC says there is a 28-percent increase from 2014 to 2016. The top three locations are all intersections across Valdosta.

First, is North Saint Augustine road at Norman Drive.

Second, Gornto Road at North Saint Augustine Road and, Baytree Road at Jerry Jones Drive.

A Valdosta Police Department spokesperson says crashes happen at these locations because of traffic congestion and distracted driving.
