VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) announced Monday that the hospital will be acquiring the South Georgia Regional Library (SGRL) property on Woodrow Wilson Drive.
The acquisition will take place once the library is fully functioning at its new location in the old Doctor's Lab building on Julia Drive. That's expected to happen by 2017.
The hospital says it will use the new library space for a variety of non-clinical purposes.
The building was constructed in 1968 and underwent a major renovation in 1995.
SGRL says the recent growth of technology made it necessary for the library to move to a more modern space.
The property price tag is $2 million.
