OMEGA, Ga. (AP) - A south Georgia day care has decided not to appeal an order by the state to close after a 3-year-old girl was run over by an employee.
WALB-TV reports the accident happened during a trip to a local restaurant last week. Police say an Omega Day Care Center employee thought the girl was in the back seat when she backed over her, then pulled forward and ran her over again.
The girl was hospitalized in critical condition and the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning issued an emergency closure order. Reg Griffin, department spokesman, says the center is responsible for improperly transporting two children without parental permission.
The day care initially planned to appeal the order Tuesday. A call to the day care was not answered Monday.
