TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee is continuing the promise to help people on the Southside lead healthier lifestyles.
WTXL ABC's Jada Williams was Wednesday morning to talk about a new partnership helping the city accomplish their goals.
Thanks to a $5,400 grant from Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, some of the sick people living on the Southside will receive vouchers to get fresh foods from the Southside Farmers Market.
The Fresh Food Rx Program will address the high number of residents living with chronic illnesses on the Southside.
Those chosen for the program will receive not only vouchers but healthy lifestyle training.
"In addition to the food, they will be taught how to prepare the meals and given other instructions about exercise and other things that'll keep them healthy and happy," said Tallahassee City Commissioner Curtis Richardson
These vouchers will be worth $20 each.
