TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - People who lined up to buy solar eclipse glasses on Friday got them at one store - if the would-be purchasers were one of the first 15 people in line.
Finding eclipse glasses in Tallahassee just days before the possibly once-in-a-lifetime event is proving difficult.
But some people got word that such glasses were at Peter-Brooke Chocolatiers, and people hoping to get lucky lined up as much as two hours before the store opened.
In 10 minutes, the store sold out of the glasses at a price of $9 each.
"I wanted to get the eclipse glasses because at my age this is my last eclipse of this sort," said Mary Hatfield. "So it's important to me to get the glasses and share this with my family."
Those who weren't able to get a pair glasses didn't leave the store empty handed.
"When they had the promotion I thought that would be a great opportunity to get some glasses and when they ran out I thought, you know I want them to be able to know how much that was appreciated," said Pam Jordan Anderson.
Besides the glasses, each successful purchaser got a single Oreo cookie made to look like an eclipse by the addition of yellow icing around the edges.
