TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- For almost 30 years the Foundation for Leon County Schools has invested over $2 million in local schools. Tonight the foundation is hosting its 6th annual soiree to raise money to help local children.
Money raised during the event will be doubled through a matching grant from the Florida Department of Eduction.
The Friends of the Foundation Soiree will be held on October 9th from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Goodwood Museum Carriage House. The event will feature a silent auction, entertainment by teachers and students, great food, and drinks.
Money raised by the Foundation for Leon County Schools helps to funds the Teacher Mini-grant Program, which awards teachers who demonstrate innovation and creativity. From robotics instruction to engineering school gardens, from mathematics competition to technology enhancements, the group says it has funded more than $400,000 worth of programs in the last 5 years.
