ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - Authorities on the Georgia coast say two people suffered only minor injuries when a small plane crash landed on the roof of a house on St. Simons Island.

Assistant Chief Tommy Dixon of the Glynn County Fire Department said the plane came down at about 11 a.m. Tuesday after taking off from Jacksonville, Florida. He said the pilot had reported engine trouble to air traffic controllers.

Homeowner Wilfred McGuin told the Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1NvyCjN) he was doing yard work when the plane clipped a tree limb that fell near his feet. He said he looked up and saw two men climbing out of a plane on his roof.

The names of the people aboard the plane were not immediately available. Dixon says they were treated for minor scrapes and bruises.
