TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Some people in our community traded in the comfort of their beds for the ground to focus on homeless youth and adults.

It's all a part of the Sleep Out for Homeless to call attention to the fact that more than 900 people in our community have no place to sleep.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Friday morning at Lewis Park as the sleepers started to wake up.

This is the fourth year of the event and the first years at Lewis Park.

More than 60 people came out.

Their activities included games such as cornhole and drawing/coloring, and crafts.

Connecting Everyone with Second Chances, Capital City Youth Services and the Big Bend Homeless Coalition asked people to give up the comforts of their homes and sleep in the park.

Sleep out participants asked colleagues and friends to contribute monetary donations for families in need.
