TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Proceeds from a Tallahassee skateboard competition will go towards building a beginner's skate park for autistic children.

The Spring Fling for Autism will be held Saturday April 20 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. It will be at the Mike Blankenship Skate Park, which is off Jackson Bluff Road and located between Messer Park and the TalTran Administration Buildings.

The event will be full of family-friendly events like food, face-painting and a bounce house. There will also be a screening of the film Heartchild, a documentary about the mother of an autistic child. She later created a non-profit that uses skateboarding to help children with the disorder.

Admission is free, but there is a $10 fee to enter the skateboarding competition. Sponsors are still being accepted for the event.
