TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The world famous duck that survived three gunshot wounds, being retrieved by dogs, and then refrigerated for two days has died.

"Perky the Lucky Duck" was brought to live at the Tallahassee Museum after the 2007 incident.

According to museum officials, her right wing was damaged permanently and she had an adverse reaction to anesthesia during surgery but she still survived.

Dr. David Hale monitored Perky's recovery and kept in contact with international news organizations so people across the world could follow how she was doing.

"The Tallahassee Museum is thankful to Dr. Hale, his team, and Noni Beck and volunteers at Goose Creek Wildlife Sanctuary who helped save Perky in 2007," said Russell Daws, president and CEO of the Tallahassee Museum. "We are honored that she was able to live a peaceful second life here at the Museum."

A second ring-necked duck that also survived being shot, then refrigerated still lives at the museum.
