QUINCY, Fla., (WTXL) -- A murder suspect, along with Thomas Ponder, an inmate who helped the man escape Sunday in Gadsden County, are both charged with escape, according to Gadsden County Sheriff's Office Maj. Robert Barkley.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office said the perimeter fence, where Gregory Sapp Jr., 24 escaped, is being inspected and repaired. They will also conduct an internal investigation into the events leading up to his escape.

Sheriff Morris Young said he will be sharing the information and findings with the Gadsden County Board of Commissioners. According to the Sheriff, they are responsible for the upkeep and security needs of the 26-year-old jail.

Sapp escaped from the recreation yard around 6pm Sunday, by going under a perimeter fence. Sapp was captured about three hours later by K-9 dogs on Pat Thomas Parkway in Quincy said Maj. Robert Barkley.

The sheriff's office alerted the family of his former live-in girlfriend, Keyonda Collier, 33, who Sapp is charged with killing.

On April 21, Collier's birthday, officers found her dead in a West Clark Street home in Quincy with hands and feet bound. Two children were found bound and gagged inside as well. They survived.
