GEORGIA (WTXL) - Shelters are scheduled to open up in South Georgia due to potential severe weather expected to hit this afternoon.
- A shelter is opening in LOWNDES COUNTY at the Mathis City Auditorium this afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
Those coming to the shelter should bring all items needed to include blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, water, snacks, medications, formula, diapers, medical supplies, chargers for electronic devices, etc.
The shelter will remain open until severe weather has moved through the area.
New Horizons Shelter under Lowndes Associated Ministries to People, Inc. is also opening their doors in LOWNDES COUNTY as an option for homeless individuals and families.
- A shelter is opening in COOK COUNTY at the Cook Middle School at 1601 North Elm Street from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.
