TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Five students out of 1,300 presented their business ideas for a chance to win more than $11,000 in cash, scholarships and prizes.
Junior Achievement Big Bend held it's third annual "Shark Bowl Competition" Thursday night in Florida State University's University Center Club.
It's a countywide competition of students from Leon, Lincoln, Rickards, Chiles and Godby High Schools who present their business ideas to members of the local business community.
The top 5 students presented on stage in front of judges representing FSU, FAMU and TCC who selected the winners.
Coming in first place? Malachi Jackson, a junior from Godby.
"Everything, I'm like happy for my school, my principal just told me that I'm the first person ever to win first place for Godby in the Junior Achievement Shark Bowl, and I'm just so happy right now!" Jackson said.
His business pitch was a door trash pickup service at apartments for the elderly, disabled and college students.
