GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) - In 2015, more than 8,000 clinical and emergency visits at Shands were patients from Tallahassee and surrounding areas. Children's Miracle Network helps fund the hospital, while supporting a full spectrum of pediatric care.

With over 150 beds, the hospital has more than 20 pediatric specialties. The hospital also holds a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit that opened in 2014.  The 18,000 square foot area is dedicated to taking care of children with heart defects.

This coming week, the Children's Miracle Network will be holding its annual fundraiser, Belt Buckle Ball, to raise money to support these special units at Shands. The fundraiser will be held Friday, November 6th at The Farm Equestrian Center in Tallahassee. The event begins at 6:30pm; and includes cocktails, dinner, bull riding, funny-money poker, and live entertainment.
