A man previously convicted of child molestation in Leon County will now spend life in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a young child in his care multiple times.

On Friday, William Allen Crowley, 36, was convicted by a jury on two counts of custodial sexual battery on a victim under 12 years of age. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Crowley, who already had a prior conviction in Leon County for sexual molestation, was also deemed a sexual predator in Gadsden County.

Crowley is being held in the Gadsden County Jail.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's office says the victim disclosed in February 2018 that Crowley had molested her on two different occasions. Deputies say the child was under the age of 10 at the time.

To avoid arrest, deputies say Crowley ran from Gadsden County to Wakulla County. After conducting surveillance and collaborating with law enforcement agencies, a Wakulla County detective and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Crowley in Crawfordville.
