Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL)-- Severe weather ravaged the Big Bend region Tuesday, causing downed trees and structural damage.

Nola Conn and her mother were inside when the power suddenly went off.

"It felt like a tornado" says Conn, when 60 mile per hour winds swept through the area knocking down a huge tree right in front of the house.

Downed trees have left many area residents in the dark. The City of Tallahassee and Talquin Electric says more than 5,000 of their customers experienced power outages and Talquin officials add it could be a 24 hour wait until power is completely restored.

Wendy Hallca, an employee at the Quarter Moon in Lake Ella and says a tree came crashing down, right on top of her store.

Thankfully, no one was injured but Tuesday's storms serve as a clear reminder of just how fast things can become destructive.
