NEW YORK -- One delicious bite at a time, Jordyn Lexton is changing the lives of formerly jailed young people.
She and her team run a New York food truck named Snowday that's staffed by young men and women trying to rebuild their lives.
The truck is part of a nonprofit program that prepares them to re-enter the job market. They're taught cooking skills as well as hospitality, money management and even emotional development.
About two dozen ex-inmates have gone through the program, and a few have already landed permanent jobs in the restaurant and catering industry.
The concept has not only proved successful as a jobs program. This year, Snowday won the Vendy Cup for best food truck in New York, serving maple-syrup-drizzled grilled cheese sandwiches and other farm-to-table specialties.
