TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Monday, the Florida State University (FSU) Board of Trustees voted and approved Senator John Thrasher's 5 year contract to be the next president of the university. If the Board of Governor's approves of Thrasher's hiring, he will be paid $430,000 a year, along with other perks.

In terms of base pay, Thrasher would be about fifth among presidents in the state university system. His salary would be behind the presidents of University of Florida (UF), Florida International University (FIU), University of South Florida (USF) and University of Central Florida (UCF).

UF just elected Cornell University Provost Kent Fuchs as their new president. He is expected to see a base salary that could approach $500,000 when his contract is signed.

Thrasher's base salary would be ahead of Florida A&M University President Dr. Elmira Mangum's base salary of $425,000.
