TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) A former Florida State University President is recommending a Florida state Senator to take over the top position.
In a three page letter, former President Talbot Sandy D'Alemberte endorsed Senator John Thrasher for the FSU Presidency.
Thrasher's recent support has garnered both praise and criticism from his fellow lawmakers. Thrasher proposed the legislation that would have split up the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.
The nomination comes the Presidential Search Advisory Committee is preparing to meet Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Turnbull Conference Center.
Doctor Garnett Stokes is currently serving as FSU's Interim President. She took over for Doctor Eric Barron, who departed in April to take over the Presidency at Penn State University.
